Back in March 2011, Enterprise Rent-A-Car has launched “Giving Back” as part of their ongoing commitment to give back to the communities. “Giving Back” is a philanthropic contest where employees nominates charities who compete via social media for funds from Enterprise’s foundations. The competition took place on Enterprise’s Facebook page and after the contest has concluded in mid-April, they have decided to carry out the Tree Pledge, where Enterprise is planning to plant 50 million trees over the next 50 years.
As one of the largest car rental company in the world, the President of Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation has stated: “We give back to the communities that are responsible for our business success. It’s a natural part of our commitment to be a responsible corporate citizen. Our Giving Back campaign is another way for our employees to be involved in our philanthropic efforts, giving them one more reason to feel good about being part of our business.”
Enterprise has teamed up with National Arbor Day Foundation, the world’s oldest and largest tree-planting organisation, to assist with the Tree Pledge. Enterprise has also pledged to plant additional trees for every fans who have pledged to do the same via their Facebook page. They have already started tens of thousands of trees already planted in the United States, Canada and Europe.
